Set Design & Decoration

Call Me By Your Name |  2018 |  Luca Guadagnino

With more time on my hands to watch films recently, I thought I’d start sharing beautiful set designs that inspire me, and hopefully you too. First up is “Call me by your name” (2017)- set in 1983, Italy. Set decorator Violante Visconti and Production designer Samuel Deshors worked together on location at “Villa Albergoni” a 17th-century estate in the countryside of Lombardy, Italy. Within a month, furnishings, maps, artifacts and plenty of books were collected from antique stores and even from Visconti’s father's home for the film. What I love most is the aristocratic charm it holds, its lived-in feel and its celebration of history & culture. Both designers did an amazing job at creating a home that became a visual extension of the loving family who dwelled in it.

I acknowledge and pay respect to the past, present and future Traditional Custodians and Elders of this nation and the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Always was always will be Aboriginal land.
